The NYC Washington Square Park Dog Run Halloween Parade was so much fun today! So many dogs and their parents came out to ‘strut their stuff with all their fabulous costumes. I mean really! You should have seen the costumes…and all the people. The place was really packed, with ‘packs’…lol! People really do get into dressing up their dogs. It’s one of the few times a year we dogs can wear ‘stuff’ without being made fun of, or it just looking plain ole ridiculous. Unfortunately, I was having problems with my limpy leg, so my mommy didn’t want me to wear my costume for this party because she was afraid I would get even more limpy. hmmph.
But, there were some parents that had their dogs dressed up in somethin’ fierce…and the best part is, if you have a great costume that the judges vote on as one of their favorites, or you donate and play the raffle, you can win prizes! And really good prizes like Knicks Tickets (score!), Free Dinners (drool), Free Poop Bags (hmmm?), Fun Gift Baskets (grrrufff), Music (howwwl), and so much more! Also, another great thing about the costumes were that all the costumes were pet friendly, in that they didn’t have any real food attached to them, or hanging parts that teased other dogs into destroying them.
This year, our new company, ItsPawsableNYC. com, donated a years’ subscription of poopy pouches and a pair of my daddy’s Knicks Season Tickets to the dog park. These generous prizes and all the other ones are so helpful to raise some needed money for the Dog Run! Lots of people don’t realize that the only money we have for our dog run, is the money we earn ourselves, and we are always in need of having more trash cans, shovels, benches, water bowls, toys, etc. If as many people that came to the run to enjoy it with their dogs gave money, we would be RICH! I mean it, but this is another story…
Anyhoo, the party was a success, the costumes were amazing, and now next weekend there is another party at the 72nd Street Dog Run for me to check out more ‘hot bitches’ in their groovy costumes! This time of year is busy for a dog and his parents, but come out, slap on those costumes (Anything’s Pawsable-I know you can find something) and support the dog runs in our great city of New York!
